Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions – Royal Candles New Zealand
What can I do with leftover candle wax?
We love promoting sustainability by encouraging our customers to reuse leftover wax. Here are some creative ideas:
- Wax Melters/Burners: Break up leftover wax from pillar candles or scoop out residual wax from vessels. These pieces can be placed in most wax melters or burners to extend the enjoyment of their fragrance.
- Scented Décor: Transform leftover pillar wax into a delightful wickless candle. Simply place the pieces in a clean, empty jar or an old candle vessel. You can also use it as a decorative, scented element in your home or car.
- Wax Sachets: Get crafty by melting the leftover wax and pouring it into molds. Add dried flowers, herbs, or spices for a personalized wax sachet to scent drawers or closets.
- Fire Starters: For outdoor enthusiasts, leftover wax can be used to create fire starters. Combine melted wax with cotton pads or sawdust for an eco-friendly way to start a campfire.

How do I remove wax from clothes, carpet, or hard surfaces?
Wax spills are no fun, but they can be cleaned up with a little care:
- Hard Surfaces: Allow the wax to cool and harden fully, then gently scrape it off using a plastic scraper or your fingernail. For any residue, apply slight heat with a hairdryer to soften the wax and wipe it away with a paper towel. Ensure the surface is heat-resistant before applying heat.
- Fabric or Carpet:
- Use a hairdryer or warm iron (on low heat) to gently melt the wax, placing a paper towel or clean cloth over the wax to absorb it as it melts.
- Repeat until the wax is removed. If a stain remains, treat it with a stain remover designed for oily spots.
- Note: Wax spills on fabric or carpet may leave an oil-like stain, so take care when cleaning.
- Pro Tip: Perform a spot test before applying heat or cleaners to delicate surfaces or fabrics.
